Viva La Cola!

Founded in January 2009, PubliCola is a blog about Seattle written by journalists who are dedicated to non-partisan, original daily reporting that prioritizes a balanced approach to news. Started by longtime local editor and award-winning reporter Josh Feit, PubliCola is the first online-only news site in state history to get media credentials to cover the state capitol.

PubliCola was off and running. In June 2009, PubliCola hired another award-winning journalist, super-sourced Seattle city hall reporter Erica C. Barnett.

People were afraid that blogging would change journalism. Instead, we believe journalism can change blogging. Twenty-first century journalism may look and feel different, and yes Erica isn't afraid to get cranky, but we're committed to making sure online news still delivers independent, reliable, even-keeled coverage. And most of all, we're committed to making sure the coverage sparks honest civic debate.

Bringing you cola for the people, PubliCola is named after Publius Valerius PubliCola, the alias for the authors of the Federalist Papers—the original bloggers.

The first online-only news site in state history to get media credentials to cover the state capitol and Seattle city hall, PubliCola has been called a “must-read” by the Seattle Post Intelligencer and a hot “New Media Mover and Shaker” by Seattle Magazine—which also cited our own Erica C. Barnett as the city's No. 1 news nerd.

Woman Attacked With a Bucket of Urine, Feces and Vomit

A man allegedly attacked his neighbor with a bucket of urine, feces and vomit in the parking area near their apartment building in Beacon Hill, according to the police report. The woman’s clothes were soaked in urine, she had “soft fecal matter” on her back and vomit in her hair when police arrived shortly after the attack. The stench was so bad, the reporting officer found it difficult to conduct the interview, according to the report.

But, the officer valiantly fought the odor and got the following story (and hopefully a GIANT bonus, too). The woman said that the suspect somehow got her cell phone number and called her up while she was in her apartment near Martin Luther King Jr Way S and S Walker St around 9 p.m. August 8. He told her there was something wrong with her car, so she went out to the parking area to check on it. She saw there was nothing wrong with the car and headed back towards the apartment building.

When she reached the stairs to return to the building, the suspect allegedly ran up behind her and dumped a bucket of urine, feces and vomit onto her. Police checked the stairs, and, indeed, found what appeared to be more urine, feces and vomit on the steps.

Seattle Fire Engine 30 responded to the scene, but were unable to assist in the cleanup on the stairs due the large amount of matter. Firefighters arranged a bio hazard cleanup with the building owner before leaving.

There was no response at the suspect’s apartment, so police did not make contact with him at that time. It is also unclear whose urine, feces and vomit it was and over how long a period it had been collected.

Not that things have been great in Beacon Hill lately, but I’m pretty sure that this is in a different neighborhood.

  • Tom Fucoloro

Yeah, it is just east of rainier ave, you’re right. Probably is rainier valley by a block or two.

  • SnarkyMcAllister

…smells like Beacon Hill. What is this? The week of bodily functions? First flaming poop in Pinehurst, then the mayor’s poop patrol, now this?

  • Jonah Spangenthal-Lee

    It’s been a shitty week.

  • cutelilbrat

I really think I would have to burn myself or pour acid or something all over my skin and shave my head bald just so I would know that I was clean from all that shit. That is something you will never forget. Poor lady.

Yup, it’s very much in the Valley and not on the Hill by any definition.

There must be a good back story here.

  • crazzyak

    Holy shit! That sucks!

Also, ON Beacon Hill is the right way to say it. Unless it happened at the light rail station, in which case ‘in’ the Hill is proper usage.

looks like he did not have shit to do do .

The person who did this must be insane. The whole matter points to insanity. This filth may have superbugs in it, so it should be dealt with as hazmart level.
