Viva La Cola!

Founded in January 2009, PubliCola is a blog about Seattle written by journalists who are dedicated to non-partisan, original daily reporting that prioritizes a balanced approach to news. Started by longtime local editor and award-winning reporter Josh Feit, PubliCola is the first online-only news site in state history to get media credentials to cover the state capitol.

PubliCola was off and running. In June 2009, PubliCola hired another award-winning journalist, super-sourced Seattle city hall reporter Erica C. Barnett.

People were afraid that blogging would change journalism. Instead, we believe journalism can change blogging. Twenty-first century journalism may look and feel different, and yes Erica isn't afraid to get cranky, but we're committed to making sure online news still delivers independent, reliable, even-keeled coverage. And most of all, we're committed to making sure the coverage sparks honest civic debate.

Bringing you cola for the people, PubliCola is named after Publius Valerius PubliCola, the alias for the authors of the Federalist Papers—the original bloggers.

The first online-only news site in state history to get media credentials to cover the state capitol and Seattle city hall, PubliCola has been called a “must-read” by the Seattle Post Intelligencer and a hot “New Media Mover and Shaker” by Seattle Magazine—which also cited our own Erica C. Barnett as the city's No. 1 news nerd.

Sen. Murray Raises $280,000 at Golden Tennis Shoe Awards

According to her campaign, U.S. Sen. Patty Murray raised $280,000 at her annual Golden Tennis Shoe Awards last Friday at Seattle Center where U.S. Sen. Ted Kennedy’s widow Victoria Kennedy spoke. 1,100 people attended the event.

The most recent federal campaign finance reports (through March), have Sen. Murray with $5.9 million cash on hand.

Shouldn't it be Grandma In Tennis Shoes? The Tennis Shoe thing worked in 1992, when Murray was 42 and could play the “young mom” role — jogging the stroller around Greenlake, but she's 60 now and her kids are grown up. Today's Moms drive SUVs and ferry kids to soccer practice and they wear Crocs and Vans to “keep up with the youth”.

And apparently Patty Murray did not speak any message; none is reported.

Meanwhile Rossie has erased ten out of a 17 point deficit in just five weeks as he launched. Not bad. Patty seems to be following the Hillary Clinton strategy of saying she's ….the insider incumbent, look at me, I can raise a lot of money, I know Victoria Kennedy!

As we see massive cutbacks in state and local and unease over unemployment and then a presidential bp oil spill speech for which the huffington post headline is this:

    JUNK SHOT
Obama's National Address Panned: Short On Details, Failed To 'Go Big'

you have to ask yourself, what's the point of her raising money if she doesn't have any ANSWER or any message in response to the sharp, repeated, GOP message (gummint too big)? Is her plan to avoid the issue?

There were only thirteen percent undecided in that poll and sh'es below fifty percent. Money doesn't do you so much good if the voters already know you and you don't got nuttin' to say to them…..

and the outpouring of support from the Murray base fans is overwhelming…..
