Viva La Cola!

Founded in January 2009, PubliCola is a blog about Seattle written by journalists who are dedicated to non-partisan, original daily reporting that prioritizes a balanced approach to news. Started by longtime local editor and award-winning reporter Josh Feit, PubliCola is the first online-only news site in state history to get media credentials to cover the state capitol.

PubliCola was off and running. In June 2009, PubliCola hired another award-winning journalist, super-sourced Seattle city hall reporter Erica C. Barnett.

People were afraid that blogging would change journalism. Instead, we believe journalism can change blogging. Twenty-first century journalism may look and feel different, and yes Erica isn't afraid to get cranky, but we're committed to making sure online news still delivers independent, reliable, even-keeled coverage. And most of all, we're committed to making sure the coverage sparks honest civic debate.

Bringing you cola for the people, PubliCola is named after Publius Valerius PubliCola, the alias for the authors of the Federalist Papers—the original bloggers.

The first online-only news site in state history to get media credentials to cover the state capitol and Seattle city hall, PubliCola has been called a “must-read” by the Seattle Post Intelligencer and a hot “New Media Mover and Shaker” by Seattle Magazine—which also cited our own Erica C. Barnett as the city's No. 1 news nerd.

SWAT Team Serving Warrant In Ballard

Seattle SWAT officers stormed a business near Fremont about an hour ago.

MyBallard reports two people were arrested.

A source says one of the suspects may have been armed, but gave no indication of whether shots were fired.

According to court records, one of the suspects, a 39-year-old man appears to have a long rap sheet, including convictions for theft, car prowling, failure to obey officers, possession of stolen property, possession of contraband, several counts of driving with a suspended license, obstruction, burglary, and car theft. Court records say he was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle in March.

Now that you have a post up with info NOT on Slog, I hope they will do the right thing and a) note you have a post up and b) give you credit for the new info you have on the alleged perp.

    Frizzelle is on crack.

The first two came out of the building relatively early on, and were handcuffed and put into unmarked cars.

The remaining suspect seems to have been this the main person they were looking for. He was in there a long time, and they finally took him out of a building next door. How he got from one building to the other isn’t clear. They put him into the back of a regular patrol car, and then pulled him out again to search him. From where I was standing he looked to be a white male in his thirties with short brown hair.

When police finally let me get my car, they said that it was over and that they had “gotten their guy.”

Thanks for posting the history on this guy, Jonah. I’m glad he’s going away.
